Are We There Yet?
So, one week of classes left and finals, then I'm all done at Marquette. Wow. I've been focusing so much on how badly I need to get out of here, how I just wanted to survive these last few months, that I don't think I allowed myself to realize that I'm leaving. This week it's really hit me. I will be leaving Marquette. Soon enough, I'll be leaving Wisconsin, the Midwest. Everything. Weeeeeeird! I'll most likely also be leaving any semblance of a social life, so we'll just have to see how that turns out. Mother is already hell-bent on finding me friends. There's one potential candidate she met at a dinner party in Madison, but I don't really see myself having a friend named "Buffy." Unless of course she kills vampires, because that would be friggin' sweet. Still, the idea of having to move across the country, meet all new people, make new friends... it's just exhausting.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited. I'm really looking forward to Europe with Liz and being a big time law student. Assuming of course I actually survive my trip with my sister. Apparently, I have a habit for getting on people's nerves sometimes (whaaaaaaaat?). Fingers crossed that she doesn't sell me into the sex trade in Amsterdam. Granted, I'll make out like a bandit, but still...

Happy Easter!
Oh, Easter Break... the bonus of going to a Catholic institution! Considering how lazy I am when it's not vacation, I accomplished a lot! Highlights:
*Driving from Milwaukee to Madison without a rear windshield... it's like a convertible for poor people!
*Crafted my end of the year NRHH presents (perhaps my manliest project to date. It involved trips to the hardware store!)
*Learned 5 new recipes (My aunt is addicted to Food Network.)
*Purchased airplane tickets (business class!) and Eurail tickets for trip to Europe with Liz. We decided on 16 days, because that's all she can afford (and she didn't want the trip to interfere with her, shall we say: "menses"), that is, until we're invited on several yachts on the French Riviera. "But I've never been to me...."
*Oh, yeah, and the next three years of my life are completely financed! Not too shabby, eh?
So, all things considered, I have every right to be exhausted. Hell, just spending four days with my loving family is enough to want to hibernate for a year. But, hey, if there's one thing about my family, it's the good stories:
*Being in a car with Mother for a total of 12.5 hours. Between listening to "Wicked" about 6 times, and demanding beef jerky every 5 minutes, I'm surprised she didn't make me walk.
* Mother: "The carpet matched the curtains!" (Literally, in reference to our aunt's first apartment... as Elizabeth and I collapsed onto the floor, doing our best not to make all the jokes we wanted, since we were in the presence of our aunts and younger cousin. I actually fell out of my chair and was in tears, while Elizabeth felt a trickle, but made it to the bathroom in time... thank God!)
* Aunt Mimi: "Now, Andrew, don't take this the wrong way, but you were a pedophile's dream." (What, exactly, is the right way to take that???)
*Brainstorming possible slogans and designs for our custom-tee shirts for the Europe trip, including my personal fave: "We put the rash in White Trash!"
So, Easter is finally here. Which means, I'm going to dive into a kiddie-pool of Starbucks' treats! I'm really going to need it to get through these last few weeks of school. Frustrating how badly I want to be far, far away from here. To end on a happy note, since I didn't give up candy or other sweets, this is the first Lent in 3 years that I haven't lost weight! Woooohooo!

Decision: 2006
*Insert trumpet fanfare here*
Well, I have sent off my official letter of acceptance to Harvard Law School! Yep, check is in the mail, along with two photos for my permanent record. Obviously, I had to forego my usual photo routine of having a full-scale entourage, wardrobe, makeup, airbrushing (like I need it...), etc. Sadly, Walgreen's Passport-Photo service is severely lacking in the artistic department. My agent will be giving them hell.
So, what now? Good question. I guess finding a place to live should rank up there high on my list of things to do. So, I shall be nagging the Harvard Affiliated Housing people soon enough. Studios and 1 Bedrooms are pricey! However, the roommate search service they offer can only be accessed on their campus. That's helpful (sarcasm off). Plus, I do not want to live in a law school dorm (and yes, they use the "D-word," GASP!). I'm not going back, and you can't make me. Well, maybe if it's my only option, but you can be sure that I'll be pouting the whole time.
Now it's just time to get the hell out of here. I've had some good times at ol' MU (rah rah!), but it is definitiely time to move on. I hear the siren song of Balai-hai (did I just reference South Pathetic... err, Pacific?) So what does my life look like: School? Boring. Bottom of the list. Phoning it in. Work? I do enjoy some people on staff, but I'm more than fine handing the reigns over in a few weeks. Getting tired of dealing with every tiny little thing. Activities? Ok, that's pretty much NRHH. An organization near and dear to me, but let's just say it has not been fun for me lately. Personal life? What personal life? Yeah, sucks to that one. Andrew needs to start getting on with his life, put the past behind him, and have a fresh start. And when Andrew starts talking about himself in the third-person, you know Andrew means business. Right, Andrew? Right.
Of course, there are a lot of things that I will miss, and I'm mainly trying to ignore them, lest I become melancholy. So, I'm trying to look forward to the exciting stuff ahead of me. Graduation. Trip to Europe. Living with Elizabeth at home this summer. Harvard. Just a few more weeks of school first. Psh, I can live through that, right? Right?
